The Birthday Surprise

(6:50 a.m., April 3, 2023)

A man was driving on the highway at a very high speed when he heard a rattling sound in his car. He paid no attention at first, but the louder the noise became, the more he drove. Suddenly, something jumped from the back seat onto his lap, and he screamed aloud, marching on the break! It was a pretty scared puppy with a ribbon on its neck and a birthday tag that his wife had hidden in the back seat of his car as a birthday surprise.

The poor little puppy, scared and alarmed, peed on Guan's lap as it shook out of fear.

Guan himself, shocked and out of words, held the puppy by its forearms, tilted his head backward, and busted into hilarious laughter, making the puppy even more alarmed. He could not believe that his wife had beaten him to the bet.

(10 p.m., March 23, 2023)

Lilian and Guan were in their living room watching the match between Manchester and Liverpool; Liverpool had scored seven goals and defeated Manchester, which made Guan, a fan of the defeated club, so sad. Meanwhile, Lilian was exhilarated and was seen jumping around the house—celebrating her club's victory.

“Don't celebrate so soon. I would only agree you have won if you defeat me in this year's birthday squabble, as we do every year” (Guan said).

“Don't forget that I'm the chief of this game” (Guan said).

“And I have defeated you three times in a row,” (He said and winked at Lilian).

“Don't worry, I've got my gears on this time,” (Lilian blared as she walked away, gesturing at her husband) ...

Every year, Guan and Lilian plan a birthday surprise for each other; the one with the biggest surprise is usually the winner.

Guan's Birthday
(5 a.m., April 3, 2023)

Lilian is seen sneaking out of their bedroom and heading downstairs to the main door to receive a parcel she had ordered a week before. It was something like a rectangular box that seemed to be perforated.

Lilian walked over to the garage and opened Guan's car, placing the box in the back seat. She unlocked the box and smirked as she seemed to recollect something. A tiny sound of a snoring creature was heard as Lilian locked Guan's car, making Lilian happy.

Lilian tip-toed back to her bedroom and slept beside her husband.

(6:30 a.m., April 3, 2023)

Guan is seen getting ready for work. Lilian was still sleeping, so he decided to grab breakfast at the company's cafeteria. He grabbed his car keys and headed straight out of the house to his car. He opened the car boot and placed some bottles of wine for his friends. He closed the boot, entered the car, and drove off.

It was his birthday, and he was so glad that morning; the air was so fresh, and he felt like taking it all in. So, he winded down his car window and played his favorite track—Happy by Pharrell Williams.

Guan got taken in by the song's rhythm, which made him accelerate the car to 125 miles per hour (201 kilometres per hour).

Still holding the dog's forearms and laughing vigorously, Guan said, “Lilian, you certainly outdid yourself this time.” (laughs).

"Even July 3 is not so far away...” (Guan said). “Baby, wait till you see what I've planned for you, too.” (Guan said and drove off to work).
